Measles
You may get measles at any age, though it's a more common among children. It is the most contagious virus of the communicable diseases that is characterized by red spots on the skin. There is now a preventive vaccine for it, but the virus still manages to get a large nubmer of the unprotected each year. The disease and rash can be mild, or sever with a heavy cough.
Try these home remedies for measles
- Apply garlic oil to any infected areas or to prevent infection.
- Spicebush ( Lindera benzoin ) is a remedy used by Native Americans of the Cherokee nation for measles; not studied scientifically.
- Barley water should be taken 2-3 times.
- The juice of lemon also makes an effective thirst-quenching drink in measles. About 15 to 25 ml of lemon juice, diluted with water, should be take for this purpose.
- Drink saffron and snake root tea to aid the healing process.
- The seeds of the egg plant are a stimulant. Intake of half to one gram of these seeds daily for three days will help develop immunity against measles for one year.
- Lemonade should be taken often.
- Powdered liquorice has been found valuable in relieving the cough, which is typical in measles. The child patient should be given half a teaspoon of powdered liquorice mixed with the same quantity of honey.
- Soak in a hot bath with burdock, goldenseal, and yellow dock wrapped in a porous material.
